Welcome to Oaks Whisper Farm

First Place Dairy herd and State Herd for Missouri
Also
First Place Dairy Herd in Nebraska
And
First Place Dairy herd in Tulsa Oklahoma

We are located in Southwest Missouri on 68 acres.  Lamanchas are our only breed of dairy goat.
Our herd is on DHIR, Linear Appraisal, and shown on a regular basis.  All our kids are raised on a
 CAE preventative program.

We started with Lamanchas and Nubians.  We found the personality and the overall good-nature of the
Lamancha to be more to our liking.  We sold the Nubians and increased our Lamancha herd.  Some of
the lines used to create our herd are Lucky*Star, Krishellen, Majyk-Hills, SouthFork, and Shamrock.
We are now using more AI on some of our does.  These lines will include Redwood-Hills, Quixote,
Me's Ranch, Winterwood, One*Oak*Hill, WindySprings, Devonshire, Altrece and Willow Run.

Show season is now over for the year.  We had a great year and I would
like to Thank all those that helped at the shows this year.  We ended the
year with another Fantastic show.  We  had the Senior Grand and Reserve doe
the Junior Grand and Reserve doe.  BDIS with both Senior and Junior does.
And BUIS
The first place Dairy herd, Senior Get, Junior Get, Produce of dam, best
3 females, it has just been a tremendous year.  We finished 3 does in 2007.
Milk Test is coming to an end for the year as well, only 2 tests left
We had a great year last year for DHI with 3 does making the Top 10.
Hopefully we can do that again this year.
Well our Linear Appraisal is now over.  The appraisal was late in the year
this year.  I know now why it is preferred in the Spring.  The does were in
heat, the bucks were in full rut.  It was a circus at times.  The herd did very
well over all and considering they did not look their best in their heat/rut condition.
Nor did they behave like good does and bucks should.
We have made several improvements since the first LA.  The largest in Shoulder assembly,
                                                         and mammary.
We had a great time, everyone learned several new things.
We had lots of guests to watch and learn as well.  Most were new to the
goat world and we hope to see them next year with their goats at the Appraisal.
Next year we will be back to Spring LA hopefully.
Have a great Fall season everyone.

We are striving to breed quality lamanchas, with long bone pattern and short pasterns.
Wide, without making the shoulders too loose.  Breeding for longevity and milk.  Dairy and quality
are first and foremost.  Working the lamancha from the ground up and from the mammary to the front.
These are dairy animals.  We are breeding animals that milk and show.  And for level lactations that are
strong producers from beginning to the end of their lactation.  A very important attribute for the dairy
industry.  The soundness and correct structure for a lasting dairy animal with sound feet and legs,
and with a well attached mammary system are very important to us. As is a gentle good-natured
goat willing to please.

Our herd is on DHIA testing, Linear Appraisal, and shown on a regular basis.  All our kids are raised
on a CAE preventive program.  We offer a limited number of kids for sale each year.  The prices range
from $250 to $750.  No bucks are available from first fresheners.  We require a $100 deposit to order
a kid.  We fill orders on a first ordered basis.  Deposits are returned only if we are unable to fill the order.
Full payment is due within 10 days of notice of availability.  The buyer is responsible for all shipping fees.
The kids are shipped out or picked up at 4 weeks of age.  The simple health certificate and registration papers
are paid for by Oaks Whisper Farm.

We test annually for CAE.  We follow a strict CAE preventive program.  All births are assisted and kids
removed immediately.  The kids are fed heat treated goat colostrum for the first 48 hours.  Then fed
pasturized goat milk with Deccox M added to prevent cocciddia.  The kids are disbudded between the
ages of 4 and 10 days.  They are vaccinated at birth, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks of age.  Free choice 16%
medicated grain, baking soda, mineral, alfalfa hay, and water are always provided to the kids.
